We made history!
6,662 voters in District 9 showed up and cast their ballots for progress, for working-class leadership, and for common sense. No Democratic candidate in the history of District 9 has ever earned the level of support we did, and that is truly incredible.

To everyone who signed my petition, donated, canvassed, made calls, talked to neighbors, put up a yard sign, and showed up to vote — thank you. This was a people-powered campaign from the start, and you made it possible.

To the incredible unions and organizations that endorsed us: I am deeply grateful. Your members fight every day for workers, families, minorities, our environment, our freedoms, and our democracy. I remain committed to standing with you and showing up wherever I’m needed.

This campaign shook the foundations of the local MAGA machine. It showed that they rely on lies, empty promises, and out-of-state dark money to cling to power. We proved that honest, working-class leadership can compete and win support, even in places long written off.

Our movement will always be about the people. I will continue fighting for the hardworking men and women of Albuquerque and New Mexico. Our communities and our economy only thrive when we lift everyone up, not just the well-connected few.

And we’re not done yet. There are three critical races headed into a December 9 runoff, and I am proud to endorse:

·       Mayor Tim Keller, who has committed to protecting Albuquerque from ICE and standing strong against Trump’s agenda.

·       Teresa Garcia for City Council District 3

·       Stephanie Telles for City Council District 1

These leaders will bring the fresh, progressive, community-focused representation our city deserves. They need you to show up again for this runoff.

This is not the end of our fight for a better Albuquerque and a better New Mexico, it is only the beginning. We will be back, and we will keep building this movement together.

With deep gratitude,
Colton Alan Newman
